Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?
— Mary Oliver

The word “retirement” seems fine to some people. Others cringe at the sound of it, hearing a dated term that doesn’t apply to them. Many have tried to replace it with newer, more positive and active words like arrivement, alivement, repriorment, and many more “re- words like rebooting, reimagining, reinvention, and re-alignment. Though none of these words have stuck, the desire to modernize the term is understandable. Today with so many people living longer, we may choose to work, change careers, volunteer, travel, and do all kinds of new things in our 50s, 60s, and 70s.

We wish there was a better word to express this time of change. But until we find it, we’ll stick with “retirement” and invite you to define it as you wish.

The question is: What are you longing to do next?
